Six reasons to eat at Marlings restaurant (including being the best carvery in Norfolk)

Dining out is about so much more than just delicious food. Of course, that's a big part of it  we want to be treated to the very best ingredients and flavours, whether we choose a classic dish or something completely different.

But the whole experience needs to be enjoyable, from the moment you step through the doors, to the time when you've paid the bill and you're bidding the waiting staff goodnight. Every detail matters, and even one small thing can ruin your perception of a restaurant.

Which is why we take such great care to ensure our guests at Marlings enjoy the very best food, service and hospitality possible. In fact, we aim to be one of the best restaurants in North Norfolk. Read on to find out why.

1. Great food for every occasion

Marlings is ready to welcome you whatever time of the day you visit. So whether you pop in for a coffee and a cake, a hearty breakfast, lazy lunch or delectable dinner, we are here for you.

We even have a number of different areas to choose from depending on the occasion, or simply your preference! Our main restaurant is light and airy, with high ceilings, a huge (and well-stocked) bar and plenty of tables to choose from.

For intimate or informal chats over a hot drink, our cosy library snug is the perfect place. With comfy chairs and a woodburner, it makes you instantly feel relaxed and unhurried.

Our garden room is a glass-sided room off the main restaurant and brings a sense of the outdoors in whatever the season (or weather). This is also the area where dogs are welcome to join you.

We can't forget our stunning beer garden, perfect for when the sun is shining. Our well-maintained garden not only has a play area to keep children occupied, but it also has an outdoor kitchen. We can often be found serving tasty fresh pizzas and BBQ food from this alfresco area during the summer months.

2. Locally-sourced menu in North Norfolk

We believe great food starts with its provenance, so we aim to use local produce that's in season wherever possible.

For example, all of our chips are made using Norfolk Roots potatoes which are all grown in Norfolk, we use a local butcher for all our meat and our coffee comes from a supplier just down the road in North Walsham.

We have a great relationship with local suppliers, and we hope you'll agree that you really can taste the difference!

Our in-house chef makes sure every home-cooked dish is prepared with all the care you'd expect from a family-run business. From pub classics such as succulent chicken curry, hearty steak and ale pie and rib-eye steak, to fresh fish such as sea bass and scampi, all of our delicious dishes are designed to be savoured.

3. Welcoming ambience  – even for four-legged friends

We know how important dogs are, and how they are often a key part of the family! Which is why we provide a warm welcome to every guest, even furry ones.

Our friendly staff are happy to show dog-owners to our beautiful garden room, which is our dog-friendly area, or, should the weather be warm, our garden area.

Norfolk is known for being a dog-friendly destination thanks to its endless walks, whether that be to explore the countryside or the coast. Here at Woodland Park we have our very own nature trail that takes you around our peaceful woodland, but we are also developing even more walking routes, which will be launching soon. Watch this space!

And what could be better after a bracing dog-walk than a warming meal?

4. Family friendly restaurant

Family-friendly restaurants are a must for families, especially in a county such as Norfolk, which is such a popular destination for families to visit.

Here at Marlings, we not only cater for young appetites with a great selection of appealing, kid-friendly dishes and sweet treats, but we also have regular events within the restaurant, including some fantastic children's entertainers.

In fact, we've been recognised as a top family-friendly restaurant in North Norfolk by Open Table, which analyses customer reviews and selects those that are really hitting the spot with diners.

So, instead of a harried lunch, why not choose one where the kids can eat and then enjoy some fun and laughter leaving you to digest in peace!

5. Best carvery in Norfolk

Who wants to slave away cooking a roast at the weekend when you can get the experts to do it for you? There's nothing quite like having a mouth-watering selection of meats, crisp roast potatoes and a range of fresh, seasonal sides available  and you haven't had to lift a finger!

Our signature Sunday carvery is available every Sunday, from 12-4pm and is the perfect culmination of a morning spent exploring North Norfolk.

Whether you've been for a bracing walk along the coast path, a gentle stroll with the kids, or just been window-shopping at one of our local towns such as Holt or Cromer, a carvery satisfies everyone's hunger like nothing else.

6. Location, location, location

The best places to eat can often be found in glorious locations, and that's certainly the case in our wonderful county. Visitors often enjoy making a day of it  or longer  when visiting North Norfolk, and why not?

Whether you're here for charming market towns, peaceful countryside or our vast stretch of coastline, there's no shortage of things to see and do in Norfolk.

And when hunger strikes, you want somewhere homely to welcome you, where the menu is enticing and the service is spot-on.

Our restaurant is only a short walk from the North Norfolk Coast Path, making us the ideal place to refuel after a long hike (or quick stroll!). Situated along the Deep History Coast, visitors to this part of Norfolk can marvel at the discoveries made, placing humans here in Norfolk over 850,000 years ago!
