Why Norfolk holiday parks with swimming pools and a spa are the perfect places to unwind
Spending time in the place you love is restorative in itself. Whether it's the landscape, the people, or the many attractions and places to visit while you're there – once you've found your happy place, you begin to notice the benefits it brings to your physical and mental health.
Of course, holiday home ownership is a fantastic way of spending more time in the place you love, in a truly flexible way. Holiday parks offer a unique community, where owners can get to know their neighbours and the whole family can enjoy everything they have to offer.
It's no surprise then that holiday parks with swimming pools and on-site facilities are so popular for anyone wanting to make that lifestyle investment. After all, the time you spend there is your leisure time, and you want to make the most of it!
Here at Woodland Park, we're proud to be able to offer owners not only a fantastic restaurant but a state-of-the-art leisure club, complete with gym, indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
In this blog, we're going to take a closer look at why having access to a swimming pool in particular can offer a whole host of wellness benefits.

The power of a swimming pool
Low-impact exercise
Swimming is a great form of exercise for all ages. It works the entire body, helping to build cardiovascular health without putting a strain on joints – perfect for those who suffer with arthritis or who may be coming back from injury.
And, because the density of water is significantly more than air, it provides a natural resistance, meaning you benefit from overall muscle toning as well as building lung capacity.
Another crucial – but little-known – fact, is that swimming is also hugely beneficial to our arteries. Essentially, swimming can help to keep arteries elastic, which is vital for effective function and the prevention of heart disease.

Stress reduction
But it's not just your physical health that can improve with regular swim sessions. It's no secret that being active can have a positive impact on mental health; boosting mood, aiding sleep and decreasing the risk of depression.
But swimming is fairly unique, in that it can help to trigger the 'blue mind' state, which is a relaxing and stress-reducing experience that being in water creates.
The benefit of an indoor swimming pool
Having access to an indoor swimming pool is ideal, because you can enjoy the benefits of swimming all year round. Here at Woodland Park, we have a 16m heated indoor swimming pool which is bookable whenever is convenient for you.
With a family-friendly children's splash pool as well as a rejuvenating spa pool, no matter what the weather is like, you can enjoy a soothing dip or some heart-pumping lengths.

Take relaxation up a notch
We get it, your stays at your cosy holiday lodge aren't all about getting active. You want somewhere all the family can recuperate and simply relax.
Maybe you've over-done it in the garden, or perhaps you just want somewhere to feel the stresses and strains of modern life melt away. The soothing warmth of a sauna or steam room can do just that.
Key benefits of a sauna
Eases tight muscles and stiffness -- perfect for a post-work-out rest!
The warm, relaxing environment is great for reducing stress
Sweating helps to flush out toxins and clear pores
The heat causes blood vessels to widen, enhancing circulation and in turn helping with joint pain
Key benefits of a steam room
The warm, moist environment is great for anyone with congestion or allergies
The steam is great for skin, helping to remove impurities and hydrate the skin
Its relaxing environment lowers cortisol and improves mood
Sleep quality can also improve after a sauna

Enjoy easy access to both a steam room and sauna here at our leisure club and see what regular sessions can do for you.
Why North Norfolk is the perfect holiday for body and mind
Beyond an indoor pool, there are many other ways to make sure your mind is rested and your body feels good here in North Norfolk.
Walking
Our lovely, flat (well, almost) county is the ideal place to explore on foot. With walking trails galore and stunning countryside and coastal scenery to take in, we highly recommend you find your comfiest walking boots and find a route that suits you.
If you love being close to the sea then why not check out the North Norfolk Coast Path? It runs directly across the road from our main entrance, and covers a huge 84m of coast.
Sea air
There's something about being close to the sea that is both invigorating and relaxing at the same time. In fact, being close to the seaside provides a natural 'thalassotherapy' effect which is known to enhance overall wellbeing. A trip to the beach is always a good idea, but if it brings health benefits, then even better!

Cycling
A great way to cover some miles while also enjoying the great outdoors is on a bike. If you don't have your own set of wheels, there are plenty of cycle hire places in the region.
Sounds like the lifestyle you want? Then you need to book a tour of Woodland Park
